Panel 1

Janis leans out from behind a tree to grasp another figure by the arm. The figure resembles Mr. Spock of Star Trek fame, but is dressed in a 1970s turtlneck and jacket.[1][edit]

Parson Gotti: Look, I was gonna die.

Croak, I mean.

Janis: Sh.
[edit]

Panel 2

A ring of eight figures[2] brandish various magic-wand-type objects at Parson, who is standing in front of a portal and holding up his sword. Just to the side of the portal, Janis and her companion can be seen lurking. On the other side of the portal, Sizemore, Maggie, and Wanda stand in a line.[edit]

Parson Gotti: So I took a shot at the portal, okay? I don't know why I didn't disband.

Maybe I count as a Mathamancer or a Luckamancer or something? I just...
[edit]

Panel 3

Parson glances over his shoulder in surprise as the Spock-like figure leaps at him from behind.[edit]
Sound: !!!-- [edit]

Panel 4

The assailant grabs Parson where his neck meets his shoulder,[3] with one finger above the top edge of Parson's armor.[edit]
Sound: PINCH [edit]

Panel 5

Parson's assailant clings to his back, his expression rather puzzled as Parson simply turns to stare at him.[edit]
Parson Gotti: Yer kidding, right? [edit]

Panel 6

The figure grins as Parson rolls up his eyes and slumps to the ground.[edit]
Parson Gotti: Urh. [edit]

Panel 7

Parson lies sprawled in an undignified heap on the ground. Janis steps behind him and adopts an authoritative air as she raises her staff.[edit]
Janis: He's not a Mathamancer. [edit]

Panel 8

Janis steps away from Parson and toward Sizemore, Maggie, and Wanda, who are standing in a line linked hand-to-hand. Their eyes glow violet with the energy of the link.[edit]

Janis: He's a Hippiemancer.

But guard him anyway.

Ohhh, my.
[edit]

Panel 9

Janis addresses the gathered casters. The linked trio stand impassively in the background.[edit]

Janis: All right, I'll need a master-class Thinkamancer to unravel this link.

More than one, preferably.

I'll pay fifty Rands each!
[edit]

Panel 10

The Carl-Sagan-like caster puts his hand over the Orko-like caster's hidden face in about the position where his mouth is presumably located.[edit]

Orko-like Caster: Say, isn't that Sizemrrfl--

Sagan-like Caster: Quiet.[4]

And yes it is.
[edit]

Panel 11

The Sagan-like caster puts his hand to his temple and concentrates.[edit]

Sagan-like Caster: We'll have four more Thinkamancers here in a few minutes.

No charge.

  1. ^ The figure's outfit is reminiscent of the usual outfit worn by Leonard Nimoy (who played Mr. Spock) when hosting the show In Search Of....
  2. ^ Proceeding clockwise from Parson, the eight figures appear to be references to:
    1. Dr. Strange from Marvel Comics
    2. The Wicked Witch of the West as seen in the movie The Wizard of Oz
    3. Jeannie from I Dream Of Jeannie
    4. Orko from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
    5. Carl Sagan
    6. Harry Blackstone, Jr.
    7. Hermione Granger
    8. Dumbledore
  3. ^ This attack is a reference to the Vulcan Neck Pinch.
  4. ^ Dealing with linked casters as individuals is dangerous. The fact that the Orko-like caster forgot this is a reference to Orko's general fecklessness.
