If anything charges at us, we should sling a rock at it, then shank it.

If nothing charges at us, we should try talking to the gobwin, just to see if it helps. "Hello, I'm Monk Fyv. Who are you? Where is this?"

We should also try to tame and mount a snail. Not only will it serve as a ride, we can turn it into escargot if we get hungrey later.

All this.

(no picture update)

Monk Fyv looks at the shiny spot in the water. There's something down there, glowing, ethereally. It is not clear what, however.

Fyv is pretty sure he can swim, but probably not that far. And you never know what else could be down there.

Nothing is charging towards him, so Monk calls out to the Gobwin. It doesn't seem to respond, but just keeps lurching around, occasionally growling. Or is it moaning? Weird.

Monk looks at the slimy creatures, and thinks seriously about riding one. How would he hold on? What if the creature bites him? Is it poisonous? Where would he sit? It doesn't seem to move very quickly.
He's not sure that's going to be a great mode of transportation.

What now?

Is it poisonous?

We should look more closely at the Gobwin. Did it respond in any way to us? (Did it start lurching more or become louder when we tried talking to it? Did it even look directly at us?) Is the gobwin wounded? Can we see bites marks? Can we see any slime on the gobwin's unprotected skin, or around its mouth? Does it appear to have drunk any of the water? (Does it appear to have gone for a recent swim?)

Are we wearing a good pair of shoes? We don't appear to have gloves or sleeves. We could go back and get the pants off the dead gobwins. If we tear the pants, we could make sleeves and rags to use as crude arm and hand protection.

Would it be possible for us to walk around the snails and their slime trail to get to the doors?

There also appears to be an inscription on the door we just passed thru. two actually. one on this side and one on the other. What do they say?

The Gobwin did not respond in any way towards the calling out, except by grunting, and that could have been coincidental.

It is not clear whether the Gobwin is wounded. Certainly there are no obvious gaping holes in the creature. There is no sign of bite marks, or slime. The creature appears dry.

Monk Fyv is wearing default Marbit shoes. The dead Gobwins were not wearing pants, or indeed clothes of any kind.

The snail seems pretty big. Might be hard to walk past.

Monk Fyv looks at the door, but cannot see any inscriptions [there aren't meant to be any there, and I'm sorry if it looks like there is].

We should find a way to water the dry Gobwin.

Unless that gobwin is asleep, I think we can safely assume that it is tripping.

It may have been poisoned somehow. There are quite a large number of ways this is possible, and we need to determine which. (If the gobwin was driven mad by something it saw, then I'm afraid we we are going to lose the game horribly. My curiousity will be the end of us.)

Possibilities for the poison's source that spring to mind are one of the snails, the water, the cup we're holding (maybe all 3 of the gobwins we've seen have drunk from it), something on the rocks around us, or the air.

Does the air or water smell foul? Is there a layer of grime or fungus on the walls, floor, or ceiling?

Before we kicked it, did the first gobwin have any visible injuries?

I think our next move should be to sling a single rock at the gobwin. If it tries to attack us, it will have to go thru the water or the snail to do so.

If the snails are moving, wait until it is as far away from us a possible then sling a rock at it. Continue till it is close enough to use a sword on.
