One thing that a new reader often looks for when visiting a webcomic is a button that will take them back to the first page. We don't have one. We don't have one for the latest page either, although that's less of a problem since it's on the home page. We only have next/previous links.
Sure, you can go to the dropdown. But a new person may not want to spend time figuring out your website when they're not even sold on the comic's quality yet. You want to make it easy for people to see how awesome you are and get hooked. That means a big fat obvious button. A link might do, if it's located next to the next/previous and latest links.
And let's talk about that dropdown on the left, too. It has two book 2 links, one for text updates and one for picture updates. Problem with this: Both kinds of update go together, a package deal. So you want them to go to the other dropdown, out of the two seemingly redundant dropdowns you have on any given page.
Tangentially, it would be good to have a link from the end of book 1 to summer, and from the end of that to book 2. The book 2 with both kinds of update included.
