Time to put in some spam filters

The spam is getting to be a bit much, the one up today is simply not acceptable. The administrator either needs to put in a verification filter to stop the spambots or a 'report abuse' button so that forum denizens can pull down the crap that's been appearing with unfortunate regularity. Make it known that abusing this will result in being banned, and I doubt there will be a problem. But enough is enough - there are tools that can be easily implemented to stop this nonsense, and I really think it's time to do so.

The underlying issue is that the spam volume is simply beyond what the admins can keep up with by checking in every so often and manually deleting the latest incursion. We really need some automated mechanisms (e.g. restrictions on the post rate for an account's first N postings) to limit the amount of damage done between admin cleanups.

So you put in one of those 'fill in the text' or 'who is this?' filters like so many other sites. Doesn't have to be complicated, just something a 'bot can't get past. Or just a 'report abuse' button with a 4-clicks-and-it's-gone function. I would guess that it's part of the site package already, but just hasn't been implemented. While it was just haiku spam, it was one thing - but now it's getting to be porn. I run into enough of that elsewhere, this has been a refuge from that sort of thing . . .
