Navigation problems

Postby TheCat » Sat Sep 12, 2009 5:37 am

When I use the Javascript dropdown menu (just below Rob's Plug) to choose Summer Update 2009 only two pages of updates are revealed. The list stops at strip 21, which is labeled E021_PotFling_600. Updates 22-30 are missing. The same problem appears in the High Res Archives. ... 9-archive/

When I click the pictures on the Summer 2009 Updates page, I get an oddly formatted view of the strip - with pictures on top and text on bottom. This is, of course, the opposite of the way the posts appear in the blog, where the text is first and the pictures appear at the bottom. ... rtyard.jpg

Also, when new guest art is added to the blog posts, they don't refresh, so the new art never appears in the RSS feed for the site.

Finally, it would be nice if the ErfWorld logo at the top of the page took you back home. The home link isn't very prominent on the pages.

Well, A few things:

1) The image archive is not a presentation of the "post", but an archive of the images, which then has a caption that has the text of that days' post. So it's reversed like that for that reason. You can actually simply use the navigation links on the index page to go backward into the comic past to view it "the regular way" if you want. BTW, this design on updates is limited to this Summer series--The regular comic will just be a comic again so there won't necessarily be text associated with it.

2) Rob is slightly behind on adding strips to the archives. So that's why they aren't all there yet.

3) The RSS is probably being cached. Due to our traffic size we use a caching system to make sure our server doesn't go boom. Editing a post to add a comic into it probably doesn't refresh the RSS cache. Not sure though, but that's the probably answer.

4) The image as index link wasn't part of the original design so it could be added now, but it would take a bit of recoding to do so, which we might do in the future, but probably not very soon due to other things.

Thank you for the feedback.
