Erfgame Unit Creator

Recently I've been working on converting the Erfgame Rules to a video game format, based off the old Space Empires III game by Malafador Machinations. As a side product of that, I built a unit creator, and after seeing GWvsJon's thread talking about creating units with those rules for fun, I converted it to be stand alone.

It can export the unit details to a forum friendly setup, like so:

Gwiffon 12/3/3/46/- (120 + 20)/Beast (0), Mount (2), Flight (2), Speed Boost (2), Speed Boost (2), Speed Boost (2), Speed Boost (2), Speed Boost (2), Speed Boost (2), Speed Boost (2)
Beast Class C-Special
'Gwiffons are yellow gummy creatures roughly the shape of a bird. They are fast and mostly non-lethal, but serving as the mounts of FAQ's finest they are a force to be reckoned with.
They also get squishy when wet.'

I'm not much one for going on about something. I made this, and I hope you guys find a use for it. :)

The program no longer needs an installer, and can save and load unit files!

If you're asking, it's going pretty well so far. :p I've nearly completed the first half, the game setup. It just needs some tweaks to the saving/loading functions and a few convenience features. It's got a full blown side creator and a city creator too. The unit template maker is a little different because it doesn't have to stand-alone, but it's functionally the same. :)

Should point out that capitals have their own templates. Don't know if you accounted for that.

I had at one point added a capital/regular city switch in there to divide the cities and the capitals, but it would mean that the player would need to make 10 city templates; which became a lot of doing the same thing. I think my initial idea was to have the regular cities be made as templates, and then the capital made as the players play.

When the player starts, they start in a level 1, 2, whatever they specify in setup, capital site. They then customise that city when they start, and then every time they upgrade it.

The reason I had the capital sites be done like that whilst the regular city templates are pre-determined is that Capital sites are a much rarer beast. You'll never come across a capital site that's not attached to a side, and capturing a city leaves the previous customisation intact. Razing or destroying the capital and reclaiming the site would recreate that capital based off of your capital template, but that's the only instance it shows up.

Sure, once I get the mechanics working. :)

Firstly it'll have a play-by-mail and all players on a single machine play modes, but if I rig it through dropbox or something then everyone would be able to join in without having to send PMs to everybody.

I get the following error when I try to run it

Prerequisite check for system component Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (x86 and x64) failed with the following error message:
"Administrator permissions are required to install .NET Framework 4 Client. Contact your administrator."


See the setup log file located at 'C:\DOCUME~1\libui06\LOCALS~1\Temp\VSD6F0.tmp\install.log' for more information.

Any way you can make it so i don't need admn status?

Seems this hasn't been updated in a while, and there have been some new additions since the last update. Any chance on getting an update or the source so I can update it myself? I could recreate it, but I'm not very good with Java GUI and it would take me ages.

Edit:
Didn't this used to come with a city/capital builder as well?

And does the save save individual units or the entire side?

I lost a lot of motivation to do anything recently due to... personal reasons. On top of that, University has started and I'm busy with that. And restarting a program is very, very difficult after not looking at it for a while.

There was a capital city editor in my test of the Erfgame setup, but that was something else entirely. This was just a stand alone unit maker.

While I have a bit of experience with C++ and Lua, I don't know anything about Visual Basic. I suppose I could learn it or I could just start from scratch in Java. Still, thanks for sharing the source.
