Everyone does. This is what happened, I think, at the second bridge battle.

(now then, where is this RNG? And Ambush is when you're attacked by units you didn't know were there right? Are we getting that?)This post is also being used for a Roll for Flonne's Level

*fingers crossed*

This is EPIC.

Cwap just got real.

We should do a team pose after this.

turbler wrote:(now then, where is this RNG? And Ambush is when you're attacked by units you didn't know were there right? Are we getting that?)

The RNG is in the Excel spreadsheet attached in a link in the first post of this thread, and ambush is irrelevant now. Ambush happens on the move phase if you blunder into enemy units in an unscouted hex. Which is not the case for either us, or GK.

Oh, and long overdue PS, irt. Sun-Tzu and the like.

To quote another wiseman (ahem, me :P ), it seems the GM has made us a gift. We should not squander it.

The moment Lokarat falls back, he does nothing but cursing. "Titans nostrils! We almost had 'em. We almost had that last dwagon down. Only one smuggedy hit left! Rwwagh..."

It seems he is not very euforic about the outcome.

"Curse me. The kahn should lash me for this. How could I have been so lowly effective. A 15% roll is... far under my skill."
He shakes his head and looks to the other commander he rode out with. To Graf he says.
"At least we won the battle. Titans armpits these... things do damage now don't they. A full stack of 'em blasts everything out of the air."

"Pleasure to meet you and slay a dwagon with you Flonne, and already half way to next level in your first turn after popping. Jolly good show old chap!"

Duke Kettwey turns to the other assembled commanders.

"Thank you for listening to me, I'm jolly proud of this victory. Now I'm done, but you're welcome to use my Cumiwonimbuses to protect any units they can reach, if you can get them orders. Up to you lot to sort out the rest of the forces now!"

"The Diwigibles? Yes, they were planned more to soak damage ..."

The Graf looks at the sorry state of the first Diwigible. An engine down and several nasty holes in several helium chambers. But still, barely, aloft after fighting five Dwagons. Must count for something.

"... but not too shabby for attacks too."

============

Well, I'm not going to do a map now, but in about nine hours, unless someone else beats me to it. We can afterwards rearrange stacks and end turn. Having one mega-stack (all units in one stack, with the 42 hitpoint Diwigible on top) is the simplest plan, but we'll see.

"That was amazing! Thank you everyone. We all worked together and managed trump even the mightiest of foes. Although we must also be careful, since there's no telling how many more Dwagons await us."
OOC: don't we have a Tewescope that we can scout the city of Gobwin Bump with? figure out what's holed up there? maybe we should check out those mountains, too. . .

"Ahm just glad I got to cleave the head off of the other dwagon. That was all Aye asked fer. Now then, we must get ready for the next few turns. We should prepare to be attacked by any dwagons that were on their way to this location. Next turn I'll pop some more DWawven Ale for all to enjoy. We should keep this area scouted on a regular basis, preferablly using scouts in groups now that we know there's few enemies near the capital. We can begin planning if we are going to attack their bridge in force or simply go around. Now that we have a strong air power we should scout the surrounding areas and make sure they can't send more dwagons against us. I advise grouping scouts together to maximize survival, and possibly assign a commander or two to keeping these areas clear of enemy units. I'll return to my duties as forward push. The Gwiffon hammers will stay with me and I'll soon be popping groups of Berserkers. The Delver is at the disposal of any Commander who wishes to use it."

Interestingly if I'd gone with my original plan and stuck Buggeral in the third stack he'd have taken the hits and we wouldn't have lost any units with those random rolls, still as it was slaying 286 points worth of Gobwin Bump's forces for only 29 of ours wasn't a bad trade.

-------------

"Now one last thing I feel I should do before I give up my brief command of all our forces, is to inform you of what units I've left vulnerable. I've also rather used up all our scouts with move or leadership, so passing on orders won't be an option. Still hopefully a worthwhile cost for our first decisive victory, eh wot!"

Pssistacine that ensured the hexes around home camp were clear: i13, i9, h12, j12, e14, f14. No move.
Long range scouts of an Imp at E9, and Pssitacine at C9. No Move.
4 Golman Knights at D10, 3 move, but no leadership.
2 Archers at C10. No Move. Previous orders complete.
1 Gyroscope at C10. No Move. Was a dwagon hunting scout.
Viper ACU at G11, No Move. Gave orders.
Viper ACU at D11, No Move. Dwagon hunting scout.
2 Cumiwonimbuses at E10, 2 Move, No leadership. (Though with 40 hits and 40 defence not vulnerable by any means)

Well done team.

I've recieved a PM from Chief Warlord Doug, indicating that he needs to step back for a bit due to real world commitments.
I'm therefore calling for nominations for a new Chief Warlord. PM me if you want the job, or want someone else to have the job.

=====

"We have a lot of scouts at the border, so next turn we'll pretty much need to collect them ... or plan ahead. We should have a few scouts to enable a collection path, so that we don't fall in ambushes. Stacks P and Q need to be moved off the road, for safety. And we ourselves may need to regroup. But this has been a turn well spent, and some celebrations are in order!"

======

EDIT:

Modifications to above:
- updated Lokarat's XP count to 3XP.
- unit location text now lists the Golmon Knights as being at D10, stacked with the archers.

Questions:
- I see Prince Chevy is credited with only 2XP. Is this correct? I copy-pasted that part from the most recent previous tables, but I think Chevy's been in 3 battles and won all of them.

"My Golmon knights were already ordered to move to D10. My 2 Golmon archers will thus be protected from small attacks... Probably even a small dwagon stack with the forest bonus. So if someone can give me one of these fancy flying mounts, or one next turn, I'll be able to lead the ground forces again. Especially if Hisgeng comes next turn with the Golmon reinforcements."

When Lokarat looks at the map and sees the henchmen remove the last dwagon and three commandew models presented on there, he small smile leaves his face.
"Very well, we did adequate in the end. The whole stack is defeated and we only suffered minor losses. Thus, coalition forces, well done."

And Lokarat now has a total of 3 exp points. :) Not two.

After the battle was done, the Confessor slid the visor of his helmet back up, looking around at the battlefield. True, they had taken losses in this battle - the body of the Nether-Erf's Manticowe and the wreckage of two of the Graf's Air Guns hung in the trees below - but the Coalition's casualties were much lower than they might have been.

And, most importantly, the enemy's air force had been destroyed, as certain gaping holes in otherwise-pristine foliage attested.

"Truly, we have shown the commanders of Gobwin Bump that we are not a force to be trifled with. We have laid low their most powerful units, and suffered only minor losses in so doing. True, it would have been preferable to win the day with no losses, but at least we know now that it will be some time before the enemy is able to muster such a force again.

"For now, though, let us take the time to celebrate this victory and tend to whatever other matters we must, to ensure that our forces are prepared for our next engagement; I think, with our forces as they stand, we may be able to deal with the defenders at the B-10 bridge as we dealt with these Dwagons."

Fixed.

Anyways, we can almost end turn. P and Q are on the road- dangerous place to be. Shall we give our own gift to GB and assume that they won't be attacked because the area around is thoroughly scouted eh?

PS: oh wait. Who's the Alliance leader now?

I'm still waiting for any more votes for Chief Warlord.

At the moment, BLANDCorporatio is in the lead. I'll give it another 24 hours before I end the phase, count the votes, and move on to the next turn.
