Question for Jamie

Postby Ansan Gotti » Tue May 19, 2009 6:03 pm

Apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong forum, please feel free to move, obviously. :) I was thinking Jamie's corner might be a good place, but I assumed that was a forum for him alone to start threads.

For years, I've been a huge fan of Luke Chueh ( IMO, he's dark, twisted, insane, and brilliant. Some of his darker stuff makes me wince and even cringe, but generally speaking I'm amazed by his work.

When I first read Erfworld, I immediately thought of Luke Chueh, especially when I saw the RCC heavies being portrayed as stuffed animals. I'm just wondering if you're familiar with his work? On a separate (or potentially related) note, I'd love to know who some of your influences are. Thanks! You and Rob both rock. :)

EDIT: Moved this here. I think it's fine to start threads in our respective forums. -Rob

I've actually never heard of him until now. Looks like some great stuff though!

I've got a huge list of art influences:
Hiroaki Samura
Yukito Kishiro (I totally stole the octopus lips from him)
Osamu Tezuka
Yoshitaka Amano
Jae Lee
Stan Sakai
Travis Charest
Adam Hughes
Frank Cho
Jeff Smith (recent addition)
Yuko Ota
Jo Chen
Steve McNiven
Dustin Nguyen
James Jean
Joshua Middleton

And that's just off the top of my head.

I have to say your art style is extremely impressive, and for myself, always inspirational. I was wondering if there would ever be a chance to see how you create the comic? I think it would be amazing to see how Erfworld is visually created.

Anybody else think it's tremendously ironic that the artist isn't posting with an avatar?
